The Braunwald Area
Braunwald is the Family Destination in the Glarus Alps. A car-free family oasis where children can laugh, parents can recharge their batteries and grandparents can relax. Here you will find many activities for families and kids. The area provides an abundance of activities including skiing, sledging, hiking, mountain biking and paragliding.
With a small train (the Braunwald funicular) from Linthal you can reach the car-free Braunwald at an altitude of 1256 metres in 7 minutes. Once at the top, escape the hustle and bustle of everyday life and leave it all behind!
WINTER
Anyone who arrives in snow-covered Braunwald on a beautiful winter’s day knows why there is so much talk of a fairy-tale world up here. Skiers, snowboarders, touring skiers, sledgers and mountain hikers can enjoy this dreamlike mountain world under the blue sky to the full. 30 kilometres of well-groomed slopes await guests from near and far.
SUMMER
Also in summer time you find your perfect adventure in Braunwald: hiking, climbing, scootering, paragliding, romantic carriage rides – or just enjoying the sunrise. Braunwald is one big adventure playground with a nature in which you can let off steam. Completely undisturbed by car traffic
CHILDREN
In Braunwald your children will also find what they are dreaming about: fairytale caves full of secrets, enchanted dwarfs and rushing streams. There are also very child friendly walks to explore (accessible with a baby stroller) and several playgrounds to visit.
